Summary

This is a hiking tour after taking a funicular to the middle station Plan-Francey up to the top of the Moléson (or the other way around going down 🙃)

  • Trip duration: 1h30 – 2h going up. Depending on your fitness and breaks needed, it can be more
  • Surface elevation: from 1,520 m in Plan-Francey to 2002 m in le Moléson
  • Best season: Summer season for the hike. For winter see activities below.
  • Level of difficulty: medium, you need to be fit for the way up from a MoinFrom perspective😉
  • Cable Car: Funicular from Moléson-sur-Gruyères to Plan-Francey. Here starts the hiking tour. If you want to skip that, you can take the cable car from Plan-Francey to the summit of Le Moléson.
  • Activities: Summer: hiking, Via Ferrata, astronomy nights / winter: skiing, sledding
  • Toilet: Toilets available at the funicular and cable car stations
  • Eating place: There is a Restaurant at Plan-Francey and at the summit. However, we never ate there, we always took sandwiches with us. There is also a picnic area on the summit where you can have your lunch with an amazing view.
  • Costs to expect*: Return ticket Moléson-sur-Gruyères to Plan-Francey: CHF 22.- / Return ticket Moléson-sur-Gruyères to the summit: CHF 35.- / 3 ways: CHF 30.- (no halftax fare applicable)
  • Parking available: Parking at Funicular Station Moléson-sur-Gruyères or Gros Plané (see details below)

  • Equipment needed: comfortable shoes suitable for hiking, if you like walking sticks but we never used them
